Vent. X tips – adding obstacles

Obstacles in the path of the air flow affect the throw patterns of the air terminal devices. By modeling the obstacles in the space, their effect on the throw pattern of the selected air terminal device and the air movement can be studied. This information helps to choose the right air terminal devices for the space and to place them optimally so for example, the airflow turning down from the barrier does not cause draft problems.

Obstacles are added on the Throw pattern designer tab under “Obstacles”. The “Obstacle” button adds a wall-to-wall beam to the space. You can change the width, height, and position of the obstacle. Several beams can be added using the “Add Obstacle” button.

Both the throw pattern and the sound level modeling take into account the obstacles added to the room. The Vent.X program can simulate the behavior of air flows and the sound values at different points in the room taking the obstacles into account. Existing structures affect the placement of air terminal devices or the design of air flows, especially in renovation sites. In this case, examining the effects of the structures is important to avoid a feeling of draft in the space.
