Get to know: Esa Huuskonen, Director of Selection Programs

Over the course of 17 years, Esa Huuskonen has built up strong and diverse experience from within the company. He has been involved in nearly every aspect of ventilation design and product development – from leading projects and software development to improving product energy efficiency and performance. Alongside these responsibilities, he has taken on an important role in managing product data within design programs and key systems, where the accuracy and up-to-date nature of technical information are essential.

A natural continuation of this work has been the development of selection tools, which Esa has been involved in from the very beginning. Despite the long-term nature of the work, it has never become repetitive.

“Technology is constantly evolving, and every new phase brings a sense of a fresh start. At the moment, the opportunities offered by artificial intelligence are opening up particularly interesting new directions for development,” Esa says.

The expertise he has developed over the years is reflected concretely both in practical solutions and in the results of development work. One of the key themes throughout Esa’s career has been CFD analysis, in which he has worked extensively by modelling airflow dynamics and using the results to optimise products. This long-term development work has also led to several new patented solutions.

Alongside technical development work, Esa values the company culture and way of working. For him, it is important to work in a Finnish manufacturing company where products are made locally and where expertise, quality, and agile development are visible in everyday work. The ability to respond quickly, combined with flexible development cycles, keeps the work meaningful and continuously evolving.

Outside of work, Esa seeks balance through nature and physical activity. Hiking and skiing offer a way to disconnect from everyday routines, while football parenting ensures there is always something keeping him busy. What appeals to him most about hiking is its honesty: the experience is not always easy, but that is exactly what makes it feel even more rewarding in the end.

More performance without compromise – The advantages of nozzle ducts in HVAC design

Nozzle ducts have established themselves in ventilation design as a solution that combines efficiency, occupant comfort, and an appearance appreciated by architects. From an HVAC designer’s perspective, their key strength lies in their ability to simultaneously solve several air distribution challenges: handling large air volumes, draught-free ventilation, low noise levels, and space-efficient implementation.
