Climecon awarded the most influential sustainability partner of construction and building material trade for K Group

Reaching the status of a carbon-neutral company, our continuous work for decreasing our emissions, and encouraging others towards carbon emission reduction set us ahead of other candidates. Climecon was selected as the most influential sustainability partner of construction and building material trade for Kesko Group.

One of the strategic areas of focus of K Group corporation is within the construction and building materials trade that is conducted via Onninen and K-Rauta stores across the Nordics and the Baltics. Sustainable success is sought after by the entire Kesko corporation. Ambitious goals regarding climate that lead to concrete actions within the entire K Group value chain. For instance, suppliers are encouraged towards more sustainable operations and sustainable partners are preferred for procurement.

The partnership between Climecon and Onninen has grown strong since 2008. “A partnership at its best is fluent and close. Our products in Onninen’s selection have grown in volume and the end clients really value the high quality of our devices. It feels good to receive recognition for our long-term cooperation”, says Pekka Huhtela, Climecon’s product manager for air terminal units.

We set an example with carbon neutrality and sustainable operations

Kesko organizes an event to recognize the partnerships that are in keeping with their own corporate values, to set an example for others. “We were awarded the most influential sustainability partner which we take as a great compliment. This means that our work towards carbon neutrality and sustainability matters has not gone unnoticed.”, states Tommi Uksila, the CEO of Climecon.

Climecon has been a carbon-neutral company for well over a year. This was achieved among the first companies within the building and construction field. “Along with the victory, we want to encourage other companies too towards more carbon-conscious operations”, Uksila summons.

Spirit of Helsinki wins silver in Ocean Globe race

The Finnish boat Spirit of Helsinki crossed the finish line of the Ocean Globe Race last week and achieved a historic second place in the competition. The boat and crew arrived as the third boat at the finish line and were initially tied for winning in both the class and overall races. Boat Maiden Factor took the win after handicaps with a difference of 17 hours. Spirit of Helsinki won its own class (Sayula) brightly. The Finns spent 179 days, 18 hours, 32 minutes, and 45 seconds on the competition. The end of the sailing race also means that Tommi Uksila is back at the helm of Climecon.
