New features for the ECO series of passive houses

The ECO-T room controller just got new features. Now, you can set a maximum temperature and a PIN code to restrict access to the settings. Passive houses enable the use of smart and energy-efficient solutions for heating. ECO valves have an integrated heating element to heat the incoming air. ECO heaters are mostly controlled with the ECO-T room controller. The room controller optimizes the air heating energy consumption according to the desired room temperature.

Setting the maximum temperature and PIN code

New features take energy efficiency to a new level. Saving energy in heating is possible with the versatile and user-friendly ECO-T room controller. For example, limiting the maximum temperature for rental apartments and Airbnb-type solutions can help avoid needless energy consumption. Additionally, you can set a PIN code to prevent access to the settings. This allows a property owner to protect basic system settings and control energy consumption. However, even if a PIN code is set, the tenants can set the thermostat status “HOME/AWAY” and increase or lower the temperatures within the set parameters.

Up to 20% more energy-efficient heating

The system meets the Eco Design Directive’s criteria and the Ecodesign Act 2018 requirements. According to the directive, the high energy efficiency and low environmental impact of electronic products must be proven by testing.

As a result of simulations carried out with IDA ICE software, the ECO system saves 6-13% in heating energy consumption and 18-20% in HVAC system consumption compared to more conventional heating systems in Southern Finland conditions.

Compared to other heating systems, ECO’s timing and boost possibilities are in a class of their own, and during the heating season, the room temperature remains more stable. In addition to efficient heating start-up, the thermostat takes into account the effects of heating, heat accumulations, and outdoor temperature on the room temperature.
