In ventilation, the design creates a healthy indoor climate in homes

Our investment in the design and style of our ventilation solutions has not gone unnoticed by our customers. In addition to appearance, the design of our devices is crucial in creating a quiet and draft-free indoor climate in homes, apartment buildings, hotels, and other accommodation locations.

Silent and draft-free ventilation in homes

The design of the air terminal devices is, of course, an important part of their operation as well as the well-being of the building and the occupants. “At the heart of the product development of our residential ventilation devices is efficient, silent, and draft-free operation”, says Pekka Huhtela, Product Manager for Climecon air terminal devices. “Our products are designed so that their performance is noise-free which results in low sound levels, for example, in bedrooms.”

In the design of the products, special attention has been paid that the user will not feel the draft caused by the ventilation. In a number of our products, the supply airflow can be directed, which means that the airflow is controlled even when the device is installed near a wall or in a corner. In addition, the air volumes of the devices can be regulated very reliably and precisely with the Climecon control mechanism.

The role of design in cleaning of the devices

Cleanliness is an integral part of comfortable living conditions, which, however, is not always thought of when deciding on ventilation devices. The structure of our products is designed so that their surface is smooth and therefore very easy to clean.

With some of the valves, the design has been used to solve the problem of the dirt ring, that normally accumulates on the roof surface around the valve. The area around the device stays clean. Supply air enters the ceiling surface at a low velocity at a certain angle so that the particles that accompany the air do not stick to the ceiling surface.

In addition, our valves have a unique surface treatment that does not scratch, leaving the equipment velvety-like finished. The texture of the surface creates the illusion of a matte surface that disappears from its background while being easy to keep clean.

The plastic nozzles of our air terminal devices are replaced with biocomposite

One example of how we have sustainability issues at the core of product development is how the plastic parts of our air terminal devices have been replaced with biocomposite. The carbon dioxide emissions of the new, biodegradable material is only one-tenth compared to the previous material.
